It's finally here - the option of having just one Sensor in a garden area. No automatic watering, just control. Thanks to the latest integrations, MIYO can now also be controlled via Loxone and Google Home . This makes gardening easier for millions of users and is another step towards climate protection thanks to the sensible use of resources.
New Smart Garden function
The intelligent Smart Garden Innovation MIYO supplies green spaces fully automatically, in an environmentally friendly way and according to needs. In order to maintain full control over the soil moisture in raised beds and potted plants, there is now a new function that allows only sensors to be connected to the MIYO app and the corresponding data to be determined. This means that you always know exactly when the soil is dry. This makes manual watering possible without unnecessarily using up the valuable resource of water.
MIYO now offers four possible combinations and functions. The central interface is always the Cube, the "brain" of the MIYO garden irrigation system :
- A Sensor measures data such as soil moisture, temperature and brightness and forwards it to the Valve for fully automatic irrigation.
- A Sensormeasures the relevant data and several valves control the needs-based irrigation of several water pipes and garden areas.
- Only one Valve (without Sensor ) can be controlled and remotely operated with the MIYO app.
- Only one energy-autonomous Sensortransmits its measurement data to the MIYO app. The respective plants and areas are then watered manually depending on requirements and the status of the soil moisture.
The MIYO plugin for LOXONE
Today, an average of 150 home technology and entertainment electronic devices are controlled in our homes and gardens. None of the devices know exactly what the other one is doing or what the resident wants.
With Loxone Smart Home , however, everything is controlled by a central core, a small miniserver. The system behind Loxone handles most tasks related to security, comfort and energy efficiency by itself and has done so millions of times over the years. A MIYO fan and tech-savvy customer has programmed a plugin for easy operation and integration with Loxone and made it available as open source for all MIYO owners. Detailed installation instructions are also available online here. The plugin, programmed by our customer and extensively documented, sets up a websocket interface to the MIYO cube and sends the messages received via it to the Loxone miniserver in a format that is easy for Loxone to process. These messages for the MIYO irrigation system, which arrive at the miniserver via UDP (minimal, connectionless network protocols), are received by the plugin and in turn passed on to the cube via websocket.
This means that not only can the data from the MIYO system (such as temperature or soil moisture, or the status of the valves) be visualized or further processed in Loxone, but the irrigation valves can also be controlled using your own logic within Loxone.
MIYO erobert Google Home
It is mainly due to the express wishes of our customers that MIYO and the irrigation system can now be switched on and off using the Google Home voice control assistant. Once activated by saying the words "Ok Google" or "Hey Google", you can use your voice to send a corresponding command to the assistant. We want to make our customers' lives a little easier and their smart home even more efficient.
