MIYO has reason to celebrate

On March 22nd we celebrate World Water Day to raise awareness of the importance of water as a basis for life for humanity. In addition, the smart irrigation system MIYO has another great success to announce!

Due to global water consumption, which has increased tenfold in the last 100 years, water shortages and unequal distribution of drinking water are omnipresent issues. This is why UNESCO launched World Water Day in 1993 - with the aim of drawing attention to the importance of water for us humans. Because water is a valuable resource that should be used responsibly.

MIYO irrigates sustainably and conserves resources

Currently, many automatic irrigation systems are programmed regardless of the weather. This means they always water at fixed times and do not adapt to changing weather. Evaporation and thus the water requirement fluctuates greatly with temperature, solar radiation or cloudiness, wind and other influencing factors. If there is heavy rain, irrigation can be omitted.
MIYO addresses precisely these problems. With its precise sensors, the smart irrigation system can measure the moisture in the soil and therefore knows exactly whether and in which areas of the garden irrigation is necessary. This means that the valuable resource of water is used as efficiently as possible. 

"Our MIYO reduces water consumption on the one hand, and on the other hand, the solar power supply can help combat battery madness. In Austria, it is estimated that half a million batteries are used in electronics for gardens every year. That amounts to well over 100 kilograms of CO2 equivalent," explains the management. In addition to batteries, MIYO also does without wiring thanks to its wireless connection. In contrast to many other smart irrigation systems, it is not necessary to network the entire garden with WiFi for ongoing operation. Internet access is only required for installation. In addition, MIYO offers its owners the opportunity to access the smart irrigation system worldwide via a cloud connection. And amateur meteorologists also get their money's worth, because with the extensive statistics function of the MIYO app, all the values of the soil sensor can be graphically displayed and evaluated in a trend diagram. MIYO is also ahead of the competition in this respect.

Patent Office confirms: MIYO is a technological pioneer in the field of Smart Garden

It has been official since the beginning of March: after a long wait of almost 18 months, two patent applications were approved by the German Patent and Trademark Office. The MIYO system is now officially a technological pioneer in the field of smart gardens and can boast the most sophisticated inventions for intelligent irrigation. 

The technology currently used in MIYO is the only one of its kind. Simply put, MIYO uses one supply line (one faucet) to control several areas fully automatically one after the other. The newly patented pipe system has its own Valve for each of these flow paths, which can be blocked or opened to keep the water pressure stable. MIYO decides independently on this safety circuit and staggers the valve opening fully automatically.

The second, approved and already published patent will be found in the next generation of MIYO products. We listened carefully to our customers and realized the following: Our current Sensor protrudes from the ground, which is very suitable for all kinds of flowerbeds, but less so for lawns, as you cannot mow there without restrictions. This requirement will be met in the future with a new, ground-level Sensor . Its solar surface will be perfectly aligned with the turf thanks to an incline of just 5 to 10 degrees, giving the lawnmower a clear path and still cleaning itself, as the water can drain off optimally.
