MIYO has reason to celebrate

MIYO und viRaTec haben Grund zum Feiern

On March 22, we celebrate World Water Day to raise awareness of the importance of water as a basis for life for humanity. Additionally, the smart irrigation system MIYO has another major success to announce!

Due to global water consumption, which has increased tenfold in the last 100 years, water shortages and unequal distribution of drinking water are omnipresent issues. This is why UNESCO launched World Water Day in 1993 - with the aim of drawing attention to the importance of water for us humans. Because water is a valuable resource that should be used responsibly.

MIYO irrigates sustainably and resource-efficiently

Currently, many automatic irrigation systems are programmed regardless of the weather. This means they always water at fixed times and do not adapt to changing weather. Evaporation and thus the water requirement fluctuates greatly with temperature, solar radiation or cloudiness, wind and other influencing factors. If there is heavy rain, irrigation can be omitted.
Exactly at these problems MIYO starts. With its precise sensors, the smart irrigation system can measure the moisture in the soil and therefore knows exactly whether and in which areas of the garden irrigation is necessary. This makes the valuable resource water used as efficiently as possible.

"Our MIYO reduces water consumption on one hand, and on the other hand, you can defend against battery madness with solar charging for the power supply. In Austria, it is estimated that half a million batteries are used annually, solely for electronics in gardens. This results in well over 100 kilograms of CO2 equivalent," explains the management. In addition to batteries, MIYO also eliminates wiring thanks to wireless connectivity. Unlike many other smart irrigation systems, there is no need to network the entire garden with Wi-Fi for ongoing operation. Only an internet connection is required for installation. Furthermore, MIYO offers its owners the ability to access the smart irrigation system worldwide via cloud connection. Even hobby meteorologists get their money's worth, as the extensive statistics function of the MIYO app allows all values from the soil sensor to be graphically represented and evaluated in a trend chart. In this respect, MIYO is ahead of the competition."

Patent Office confirms: MIYO is a technological pioneer in the field of Smart Garden

Since the beginning of March, it is official: After a long wait of almost 18 months, two patent applications have been approved by the German Patent and Trademark Office. The MIYO system is thus officially a technological pioneer in the field of Smart Garden and can shine with the most sophisticated inventions for intelligent irrigation.

The technology currently used in MIYO is the only one of its kind. Simply explained, MIYO automatically controls multiple areas in sequence with a supply line (a faucet). The newly patented piping system has its own Valve for each of these flow paths, which can be closed or opened to maintain stable water pressure. MIYO independently decides on this safety circuit and automatically stages the valve opening.

The second, approved, and already published patent will be found in the next product generation of MIYO. We have listened closely to our customers and recognized the following: Our current Sensor protrudes from the ground, which is very suitable for beds of all kinds, but less so for lawns, as it cannot be mowed freely there. This requirement will be met in the future with a new, flush-mounted Sensor. Its solar surface will perfectly align with the grass surface due to a slight incline of only 5 to 10 degrees, allowing the lawn mower to pass freely while still being self-cleaning, as water can drain optimally.
