EU Data Act
Information according to EU Data Act (Regulation (EU) 2023/2854)
The MIYO irrigation system is a connected product within the meaning of the EU Data Act. For the many intelligent functions, data is stored and transmitted. Here you can learn how MIYO stores and processes your data in detail:
a) Type, format and scope of product data
The MIYO system generates the following categories of data during use:
-
Environmental and sensor data:
-
Locally measured: Soil moisture (in %), soil temperature (in °C), brightness (in lux/values), solar voltage of the integrated solar panel (in V).
-
Externally obtained: Weather forecast and weather data (e.g. precipitation, temperature, cloudiness) from external weather services, based on the location of the Cube configured by the user.
-
-
Configuration data: User-stored location (geocoordinates/place) for weather queries as well as set irrigation schedules, limit values and garden conditions (plant types, irrigation method, soil condition).
-
Device status data: Battery status, radio signal strength (RSSI; additionally SNR and SF for LoRaWAN), connection status of components, duration of daily charging, time of device messages and firmware versions. Also the public and local IP address of the Cube, as well as network data of accessing devices such as mobile phone, computer or tablet for control.
-
Usage and log data: History of irrigation operations (time, duration), valve status (open/closed) as well as error and debug logs for technical analysis.
Scope & format: The amount of data depends on the number of components and the measurement frequency. The data is in a technically structured format (e.g. JSON for API retrieval) and is visually prepared in the MIYO app.
b) Continuous and real-time generation
MIYO generates data continuously:
-
The sensors record measurements at regular intervals (almost real-time) to be able to react immediately to environmental changes.
-
The MIYO Cube continuously processes this data for automatic control.
-
Note on diagnostic data: Error and debug logs are created locally in case of errors but are not automatically uploaded. An upload only takes place as needed (e.g. in case of support).
c) Data storage
MIYO uses a hybrid system for storage:
-
Local storage when using a MIYO Cube: All operationally necessary data and configurations are primarily stored locally on the MIYO Cube (storage duration: 12 months).
-
Server storage (cloud): When using remote access functions, status data and history are synchronized. These remain stored for the duration of the active user account or until the user explicitly deletes them.
-
Diagnostic storage: Debug logs remain locally on the device for a maximum of 7 days, unless they are retrieved for a support request.
- Storage at Microsoft Azure: The data stored in the cloud is hosted at Microsoft Azure (Western Europe region).
d) Access, retrieval and deletion of data
-
Access & retrieval: You can view your data at any time via the MIYO app. For smart home integrations, technically skilled users have a local API available to retrieve raw data directly within their own network.
-
Deletion:
-
Local: A factory reset on the Cube (press reset button for 20 seconds) irreversibly deletes all local data and settings.
-
Cloud: Deletion of the user account and cloud data can be initiated via the app settings or by support request.
