App and irrigation

The MIYO app is the central interface for Cube and LoRaWAN devices. You can use it to set up gardens and zones, start manual watering, select automatic modes, and view statistics and weather information.

App features (overview)

Watering modes

MIYO offers several ways to trigger watering:

1. Manually via the app

Start and stop watering from anywhere at any time. This is useful for adjustments, dry periods, or when you want to specifically plant and water something.

2. Manually at the Valve (magnet)

With the included magnet, you can open or close a Valve on site – without a smartphone. This is useful during installation, maintenance, or when the app is not readily available.

3. Fixed time windows

Just like with a classic irrigation computer: defined start times and durations. This is suitable if you prefer fixed routines or are (not yet) working without a Sensor.

4. Time windows with evapotranspiration

The planned amounts and times are adjusted based on calculated evaporation and plant needs. This means less watering in cool, humid weather and more watering in hot, dry weather.

5. MIYO mode (based on soil moisture)

The recommended intelligent operating mode for the Cube series: The Cube controls the Valves based on:

  • current soil moisture measured by the Sensor
  • weather forecast (e.g., expected rain)
  • your garden settings (plant, soil, desired moisture level)

This ensures watering only takes place when necessary, helping to prevent overwatering.

LoRaWAN note: Full automatic watering logic (MIYO mode and comparable automatic modes) is not yet enabled for LoRaWAN devices. LoRaWAN Valves can be used in the app manually and on a schedule (fixed time windows); Sensor readings are available in the app.

6. Smart Home / API

Through the API and integrations (e.g., Home Assistant), custom automations and scenes can control watering. See the Smart Home section.

Zones and expansion

  • A Zone (irrigation area) typically combines a Sensor with its associated Valves.
  • Multiple Valves per Sensor/area are possible.
  • The system is expandable: add more Sensors and Valves for additional beds, lawns, or raised beds.
  • Cube and LoRaWAN devices are currently not combined in a single system – each series operates independently in the app.

Recommended use

  • For water-saving, low-maintenance operation: use MIYO mode with a correctly positioned Sensor.
  • For newly planted areas, start with manual watering or fixed time windows temporarily if necessary, until the soil has settled.
  • Pay attention to the weather forecast and severe weather alerts in the app – this helps you avoid unnecessary watering before rain.
  • Use statistics to understand moisture trends and watering frequency and to optimize your settings.

Multiple users

Several people can view and control the same garden in the app – practical for families, shared households, or caring for gardens while someone is away.
