Privacy and Product Data
MIYO stores and processes the data needed for intelligent irrigation—from sensor readings and settings to history and device status.

What is this about?
The MIYO irrigation system is a connected product. Data is generated and transmitted for automation, the app, weather information, and remote access. MIYO uses a hybrid model:
- primarily locally on the Cube (data and configuration required for operation)
- optionally in the cloud when you use remote access and synchronization
The aim is to store and transmit only what is useful for operation and the functions you have selected.
What data is generated?
During use, typically:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Environment and sensors | Soil moisture, temperature, brightness, solar voltage; weather data for the configured location |
| Configuration | Location (for weather and legal radio frequencies), time windows, threshold values, soil and plant settings, irrigation type |
| Device status | e.g. charging/battery usage, radio signal strength, connection, firmware, notification times; the Cube’s network connection and that of accessing devices |
| Usage and logs | Irrigation history (time, duration), valve status, error and debug logs for technical analysis |
Scope and format depend on the number of devices and measurement frequency. For API requests, data is available in a technically structured format (e.g. JSON); in the app, it is presented in a user-friendly format.
Sensors take measurements at regular intervals (almost in real time); the Cube continuously processes the readings for control purposes.
Where is data stored?
| Storage location | Content (briefly) | Duration (guideline) |
|---|---|---|
| MIYO Cube (local) | Operational data and configuration | approx. 12 months |
| Cloud (for remote access) | Synced status and history | as long as the user account is active or until you delete it |
| Local diagnostics | Error/debug logs | max. approx. 7 days, unless retrieved for support |
| Cloud hosting | Cloud data hosted on Microsoft Azure (region: West Europe) | as above |
Debug and error logs are generated locally in the event of an error and are not uploaded automatically. Uploads take place only when needed (e.g. in a support case).
Access, retrieval, and deletion
- View: at any time in the MIYO app
- Smart Home / raw data: technically experienced users can retrieve data via the local API on their own network (see Smart Home)
- Delete locally: a factory reset on the Cube (hold the reset button for approx. 20 seconds) irreversibly deletes local data and settings
- Cloud / account: delete via the app settings or by submitting a support request
Summary
- Product data for sensors, configuration, status, and irrigation history
- Local-first on the Cube, with the cloud used for remote access and synchronization
- Diagnostic logs are stored locally for a limited time, with uploads only when needed
- Access via the app and, optionally, the local API; deletion is possible locally and in the cloud
