MIYO LoRaWAN Series
With the MIYO LoRaWAN Series, you control irrigation over long distances—wirelessly, solar-powered, and using the same MIYO app as the Cube Series. Ideal for large gardens, grounds, and areas where conventional wireless ranges are not sufficient.
What is LoRaWAN?
LoRaWAN® (Long Range Wide Area Network) is an open wireless standard for the Internet of Things. It connects sensors and actuators over long distances while consuming very little energy.
- Long range – typically up to approx. 10 km, depending on the surroundings and gateway
- Energy-efficient operation – ideal for solar-powered devices without battery replacement
- Secure – end-to-end encryption (128-bit)
- Established worldwide – an open standard from the LoRa Alliance, usable with public and private networks
LoRaWAN does not transmit images or voice—but it is ideally suited to measurement data and control commands, which is exactly what smart irrigation needs.
What does MIYO offer with LoRaWAN?
MIYO extends its proven device concept to the LoRaWAN Series: sensors measure soil moisture, temperature, and brightness, while valves regulate the water flow—all controllable via the app, even when you are away.
How it works with MIYO:
- Sensors and valves in the L Series communicate via LoRaWAN with a gateway and the MIYO Cloud
- App control – operate valves manually or on a schedule (fixed time windows), and keep an eye on sensor readings and status
- One app for Cube and LoRaWAN devices (for each series)
- MIYO LoRaWAN network – recommended for the best support and over-the-air firmware updates; your own gateway can be connected quickly
- The Things Network and other networks – flexible connectivity wherever public or private infrastructure is available
- Professional setups – your own network or server (e.g. ChirpStack) is possible; we make the communication protocol (messages to and from the device) available and can support you with its implementation
Instead of installing cables across the grounds, you need wireless coverage and a water connection—measurement and irrigation run wirelessly via LoRaWAN.
Who can benefit from the LoRaWAN Series?
If areas, buildings, or grounds exceed the short range of the Cube Series, LoRaWAN is the right choice. Whether it is a large private garden, park, hotel grounds, or municipal green space—you get the range you need and conveniently control sensors and valves via the MIYO app.

Notes on the current status
- Irrigation with LoRaWAN: Manual and scheduled valve control via the app is available. The full automatic irrigation logic of the Cube Series (e.g. MIYO mode using soil moisture, weather, and plant needs) is not yet enabled for LoRaWAN devices and will be added gradually.
- Mixed systems: Cube and LoRaWAN devices in a shared system are currently not supported. Both series can each be used independently with the MIYO app.
